Cupping Therapy Q&A Series

Thank you for joining us for another installment of our Cupping Therapy Q&A Series. Here, we feature clinical questions submitted to us by ACE Massage Cupping Therapy practitioners. Our educators offer some brief insight on the topic so that you can expand your working knowledge on this revolutionary bodywork therapy and its benefits.

Question:

Randy Heaps told us that we do two treatments a week for a total of four weeks, or a month. Can we skip a week if the client is going on vacation? What is the least amount of time that a full eight-series body cocoon can take if the client doesn’t have a straight four weeks available (e.g. every two days, or every three days)?

Answer:

The body cocoon is used for a few different things. Are you doing body contouring, lymphatic cleansing, addiction relief? What is the purpose?

That being said. Something is more than nothing. Anything you do even once will begin to activate the tissues to self correct. If you do not do it regularly and consistently the results may not be so apparent and complete. Especially for body contouring, where the desired outcome is usually visual change.

I always suggest the best scenario in a perfect situation and then do the best that we can in the situation. Skipping a week could be a challenge. It will depend on how much “Treating” the person does during the trip.

Two to three times a week is what is suggested, again depending on the client’s state of body. After the four weeks are complete, we will evaluate the client to see if things are going well but could use more support continuing anywhere from once a month to still two to three times a week.
